English 113-102, Formal Poem- Ze's Sonnet

O, how the birds churp and sing to our love
Please let this be an eter-ni-ty for me
Life can be a dream which of us shall shove
And let the ray blast me out of the sea

So, can you hear me? My love-ly Emi-ly.
My sel-fish heart de-sires you and only you
Let us try to grow this seed of love babe
I'm here now with loves so true my babe boo

I sleep and I think of you in every way
This heart of mine never stops the beat of lust
Your love run through my mind each and every day
When I think about us I really wanna bust

Through all our doubts your love still shine for me,
Be-cause of that I will alway-s love thee

English 113-102, Poem 2-"First Love Poem I Ever Written"

Your so funny, When you speak
I'm all flutter, because of you
So lets make this work
The fact that I can't stop this beating heart
Because I LOVE you

You always tend to fuss and fight
About all the little things in life,
And that angry face you make.
It doesn't change the way I think
Is cuz I LOVE you

I had always wonder what love feels like
Now I know how loves like
It was worth the risk
I'm not afraid of the pain to come
Because I LOVE you

Kay I pulled lines I've used in my relationship for this poem.......very awkward.....

Eng. 113-102, Poem: What does Poem Mean to Me

When I hear the word poem, or when I think of a poem, a song comes to mind.  I've been told many times that songs are poems.  None the less, many people loves music so an easy way for me to enjoy poems I listen to them as a form a music.  Poems and sonnet to me are a way for us to express our emotions like really express our emotions, because when reading a poem there is usually so much energy and excitement used.

I am not good with poems.  I tried writing poems many times to the point of an overkill.  I've tried writing poems from middle school through to high school, and even now in college.  I have friends who are natural at putting together words and expressing their emotions using words than I do.  Being creative with my vocabulary isn't something I can do rite off the top of my head.  Friends I know are able to compose lyrics/ poems with a deeper meaning than I could, and I spent more time than they did.

Poems are one of the most popular way for me to really express how I feel, but I might not be to in touch with my emotions as others are.  My choice of words and vocabulary isn't the greatest, none the less I do try.  I love songs, that is usually the best way for me to listen to poems otherwise I don't just go and write a poem.

English 113-102, Short Story Formal, "The Chrysanthemum" Ze Vue

In "The Chrysanthemum", Elisa lives in a time where women where still practicing the life of "the ideal" traditional housewife.  She wasn't happy about the life she was living and was very tempting to cheat on her husband Henry with a man in a business suit.  She literally tried to seduce the traveling man not thinking twice about her life on a farm with her husband.  Elisa abandoning her own life alone would have been difficult for her since she would lived on her own.  In correlation to the time period, life would have been difficult to move out and live on her own.

The time period seemed to be around the early 1900's to mid 1900's, so during that time women were subjected to follow a mans order, or for better words be the perfect housewife.  Her sinful actions of lust would have caused her marraige at the moment but it wouldn't really matter when she isn't happy about her life.  The shock that she didn't just leave and instead stayed with her husband planning affairs behind Henry's back.  Elisa should have just walked out and left her miserable life behind.

I'm coming from a guys view, but if I was unhappy about my life I would change it for the better, and of course it takes two to make a relationship work.  If a marraige gets to a point where no matter how much your spouse is giving you and you still don't have anything left for that spouse then you might as well divorce and start again.  I am young but still, I would start again and find a more exciting life for me inspite of my spouse decision. I would not want to be on a sinking marraige my whole life and then decide that my current marraige isn't enough for me.

English 113-102, Short Story 2, "The Cask of Amontillado" Impunity?

In "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edger Allen Poe, impunity was mentioned when the narrator wanted revenge for Fortunado's insults.  In the story the main character used impunity to describe his enjoyment of causing Fortunado to suffercate or suffer overall for the actions Fortunado caused the killer.  I can relate to the killer's impunity but not to the extream of death.

Working at a retailer as an associate has it's advantage and disadvantage.  The easy thing about the job is the amount of knowledge required is less, don't have to deal with rough customers most of the time, and the work load might be less stressful.  The down side is the work hours, pay, or supervisors.  So, a higher up manager has a lot of power and tends to abuse it when he gets the chance.

The manager got their good times and bad times, but when you are stuck with a idiodic supervisor there isn't much you can do except suck it up, and do the job.  I as an annoying employee, complained and got the manager off my back, and filled with impunity I laughed in my head repeating to myself he has no more right to be retarded(excuse my use of language, it was not intended to disrespect anyone).

English 113-102, Short Story 1(The Lottery), TALK ABOUT TRADITIONS!

So in class we were discussing how winning the lottery in the story The Lottery, was a practice tradition.  In the story, winning the lottery was practice a lot and being the winner isn't particularly a good thing to win because the winner gets stone to death as a sacrifice for a good year.  Traditions are like rituals practiced and pasted down through generations.  In contras to The Lottery, my culture still follow an old tradition of a dowery(exchanging money or merchants for a girl's hand in marrage), which I'm not to fond of(but it's Kool.  I guess...).

In the United States, dowery is against the law so is smoking crack, but people still do them.  In this case I don't care to much for the law, but that doesn't mean I'm a bad citizen.  I grew up in an American pop culture liking the idea of an American wedding and being told I have to pay for my future wife to top it all off isn't funny.  If I date someone out of my culture and religion, I could escape the traditional dowery, but in my case that doesn't look like escape is an option.  No one is really going to force me, and so I will give a dowery out of curtousy.  My culture clash with the American culture is slowly changing ours; breaking old traditions forcing our culture to adapt, and survive under U. S. regulations.

So can money really buy love?  Not sure, but I think it can.  Don't get it confused with money buying happyness.  I love my culture so I won't break some old traditions.  There are many from my culture whom has broken the traditions already so I'm releaved the elders are more understanding than they were back in their old home country.

English 113-102-Blog 3, "Sweeney Todd"

Sweeney Todd was bit boring for a dark comedy. Why? There was a lot of blood and gore but the blood looked way too fake and the comedy must have been way over my head.  The town is always gloomy and depressing so the mood is set to a more serious emotion.  Toby the servant has a very smart attic atitude and is funny when spoken to.  Toby's confession to Mrs. Lovett was hilarious a child telling a women his love for her.  Toby is very bold and courageous for doing such a thing to a women.

The interesting thing is the connection between Arsenic and Old Lace.  Especially the trunk in Arsenic and Old Lace and the trunk in Sweeney Todd are very a like.  To support this,  in both films a dead body ends up in the trunk.  Considering both are dark comedy, I have a feeling the director might have studied the film Arsenic and Old Lace.

The irony I like was the death of Sweeney Todd being killed by the very blades he called friend and Mrs. Lovett being burned to death by her oven that was used to cook her meat pies.  Also Toby, the frightened little boy, who kill Mr. Todd with a cold blood face made the boy colder than ice(no sympathy for his action).

English 113-102-Drama Blog 2, "A Midsummernights Dream"

Shakespeare's play, A Midsummernights Dream is better in the text than the Hollywood version.  I imagine the characters and actions clearer than what the movie portraits the characters.  There was a rumor that some of Shakespeare's play was based on his feelings for his stable boy.  It bugs me that there is a possibility it could be pretty sick to think about a stable boy but overall his plays' are super awsome and has been studied through out the world.

I pictured all the characters in Togas and half naked.  In the film they are very covered only till they where sleeping next to each other which was pretty AWSOME!  Although the girls in the film didn't fully show much it was still hot.  I was not a fan of seeing half naked men in the film but in the text I imagined them to be godly with their beauty and looks.

I think the translated script was better than film and would prefer to read the play than the movie.  The ability to use my imagination is better than having Hollywood create the image of the characters for the audience.  In reality, the job is sometime difficult for a director to recreate the character of a play or a novel.

English 113-102-Drama Formal Blog, "Arsenic and Old Lace." Ze Vue

Arsenic and Old Lace(A&OL) is an enjoyable movie.  The color is in black and white, and did not bother me, because the graphics with the audio is clear.  A&OL have lots of sarcasm and irony making A&OL more interesting.  The movie was a comedy which gives it thumbs up because everyone likes a good laugh when watching a movie. The film was greatly pieced together allowing the audience to appreciate the humor of the film.  I noticed the movie in black and white giving me the impression that the movie was no good.  My wrong assumption got the best of me and i could have lost the opportunity to watch a great film.
A&OL would be a favorite black and white film of mine considering I haven't watched a black and white film since the early 1990's.  I thought it was funny how Mortimer tried so hard to get rid of the the dead old man killed by his aunt and later found a different dead body in it's place right after Teddy was just finished getting rid of the old man.  It was ironic that Mortimer's brother happened to have another dead body to fit the cellar, but it happened to be able to place it in the trunk.
In regards to the trunk in A&OL, the film Sweeney Todd, also had a trunk containing a dead body.  The two plays connects very well in many ways given the facts that they are both dark comedy, containing lots of irony, and sarcasm.  Although the theme of Sweeney Todd was based on a revenge there was still room for humor.  To support this, when Toby was mentioning how delicious the meat pies were gave me a nice cruel laughter of Toby not knowing what he is eating makes me laugh.
A&OL  might be written just for a good laugh or a moral point was behind the whole movie.  It could've been a psychological perspective view on a typical family in reality no family is perfect.  A&OL lesson of a perfect family could have been a lesson being exemplified through out the film at the same time making the film enjoyable.
Overall the film was funny and is going to be one of my ancient black and white favorites film of the old age.
